Dividing Lines: An African American & Native American Symposium is an event in which academics, artists, institutions, community organizations and figures can discuss and showcase African American, Native American and Afro-Amerindian research topics and perspectives.

 

This year we are hosting a series of virtual presentations and panels. We look forward to you joining us as we continue to create a space for peacebuilding, scholarship, and understanding!

Join us for a presentation on a 19th Century building with a storied past ranging from the Chickasaw Nation to the United States Colored Troops of the Civil War era. Led by the Rachael Finch, this segment of the Dividing Lines Symposium will highlight the history and current preservation efforts of the the Historic Franklin Masonic Hall in Franklin Tennessee.

Our final panel for the 2021 Dividing Lines Symposium will feature a dialogue concerning ways African American and Native American people cope with life circumstances.

 

Anjail Haqq, MSW, Evangelina Macias (Aamskapipikuni, GrosVentre, Assinboine, African American) and Cedric Turner-Kopa will shed light on the ways these communities and individuals have and can adapt to challenges.
